The Arnold Zlotoff Tool Museum is a collection of over 3,000 tools, etc. from the mid 1800s to mid 1900s encompassing a variety of trades, industries, and applications. It is the result of the passion of one man, Arnold Zlotoff. Arnold was a New York City school teacher of Industrial Arts and a skilled mechanic, thereby developing his interest in tools. He was impressed by the craftsmanship and ingenuity of the early Americans, many of whom fashioned tools themselves or collaborated with local blacksmiths. He began collecting in the late 1940s, when he returned to study teaching, after serving two years in the United States Army.
When Arnold died, his family encountered the opportunity to purchase and rebuild a 19th-century barn to create the Arnold Zlotoff Tool Museum. It is now in place with the tools fully displayed in South Hero, Vermont, on beautiful Lake Champlain.
Downstairs in the barn is the Z-Motorsports Collection. This is a collection of cars that represent automobiles as an expression of the 20th century design mechanics and the culture that influenced those creations. This influence is far reaching and can be seen in more than one model, make, or country.
Situated on the grounds of Apple Island Resort in South Hero, Vermont, right off US Route 2. Admission is Free.
