The voters of Starksboro will have the opportunity to reconsider a Robinson Elementary School budget of $3,005,169.00 on Saturday, May 2, 2015. The original warned amount was $2,809,709, then through an amendment, an increase of $195,460 was voted from the floor at Town meeting. The stated intention of the person who moved this amendment was to reinstate all staff cuts that had been included in the original warned budget. This unprecedented situation (increasing the budget from the floor, which to anyone's knowledge has not happened before) prompted the petition for reconsideration of the budget amount of $3,005,169, which is a total increase from last year’s budget of $354,312. The reconsideration will be voted from the floor at a special School District meeting on May 2, 2015, in the Mt. Abraham auditorium. The Special meeting will begin at 9 AM and YOU MUST BE PRESENT TO VOTE. The change in venue is in anticipation of a very high turnout so let's be sure to get there and vote!
