Chester Economic Development Corporation will host a Solar and Weatherization Forum on Thursday, December 11th, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. at the Newsbank Conference Center, 397 Main Street, Chester VT 05143. Residents of Chester and surrounding towns are invited to attend.
The forum will cover the basics of going solar and weatherizing your home for the winter, and how to save money in the process. Bruce Whitney from NeighborWorks H.E.A.T. Squad, Anika James from SunCommon, and Lee Gustafson of Net Zero Renewable Resources will each give a presentation and then be available for a general Q&A discussion.
The workshop will begin with a presentation from NeighborWorks H.E.A.T. Squad who will talk about how to best weatherize homes and how to finance the project. The presentation will focus on the steps to take in order to make homes more energy efficient.
Next a representative of SunCommon will talk about how you can use the sun to generate your own electricity and do it with no upfront cost. If you have thought about solar panels for your home but thought it was too expensive, this is a talk that you want to hear. And Net Zero Renewable Resources, a Chester-based solar installer, will talk about converting to solar hot water, installation of photovoltaic (pv) systems and going off-grid. A question and answer period and general discussion will follow.
After attending this Solar and Weatherization Forum, you will have the information necessary to get a home energy assessment or audit, including a solar power evaluation. You will also better understand what steps you can take to make improvements, and you will know about how to make solar power work for you.
For more information about the workshop, please call Anika James at (802) 310-6242 or Bill Dakin at (802) 875-4000.
