Milkweed Farm is a small, organic vegetable and flower farm in Westminster West, Vermont, run by Jonah Mossberg and Emily Hartz. We grow for our 130-member vegetable CSA and a few local grocers and restaurants on just about two acres. We are a diversified farm, growing over 100 varieties of vegetables, ranging from common favorites, like heirloom tomatoes, peas, and cucumbers, to more unique options, like ginger, artichokes, asian pears, and shiitake mushrooms. For the health of the soil, water, plants, creatures and people near and far, we farm using organic and no-till methods.
Join Farmer/Owner Jonah Mossberg on a walking tour of Milkweed Farm. Along the way he'll explain the big picture and the nitty gritty of our no-till system. We've been at it for eight years and have learned a lot along the way (and continue to learn as we go). There will be lots of opportunities for Q&A. The ground is uneven. Please leave pets at home. Children are welcome as long as they keep their feet on the paths and are well-supervised.
Space is limited. Please email us to register by July 31st if you'd like to attend. Tour costs $5 (payable via paypal or upon arrival). The Tour will happen rain or shine.
This event is part of Vermont Open Farms Week. To learn more about other fun and educational farm-y things happening around the state please check out the Dig In Vermont website.
