For Garden and American History Enthusiasts...
The Burlington Garden Club is opening a trip on August 1st to the John Hay Estate at The Fells (https://thefells.org/) to non-members. Our limit is 50 attendees and we are half way to capacity.
The day will include a Premier Bus ride to Newbury, NH, a tour of the John Hay (1838-1905) summer home, one of New England's finest early 20th century summer estates, and its gardens on Lake Sunapee . John Hay met President Lincoln as a law student and became his secretary. Later he served as Secretary of State under McKinley and Teddy Roosevelt, so there will be much to learn about John Hay's diplomatic career.
The Fells is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is a preservation project of the Garden Conservancy.
After The Fells visit, we'll have lunch at Bubba's https://bubbasbarandgrille.com/ minutes away on Lake Sunapee (lunch is paid by attendees). Cost of trip is $110, a portion of which represents funding to support Burlington Garden Club programs.
Please email me for more details and registration form. Attendance is confirmed with payment.
Thank you!
