Lamoille River Clean Up

Past event
Jun 15, 2024, 8 AM to 12 PM

Last summer's flooding left behind significant trash, debris, and other refuse along the river corridor, impacting the local ecosystem and diminishing the natural beauty of our waterways.

On Saturday, June 15th, from 8:00 AM-12:00 PM, we will be focusing on cleaning up the four mile stretch from below the Hardwick Dam to the Fisher Covered Bridge.

This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals, families, community groups, and outdoor enthusiasts to come together and make a tangible difference in our environment. Not only will you be contributing to a cleaner, healthier river, but you'll also have the chance to connect with like-minded individuals who share a passion for preserving our natural landscapes. Plus, you'll enjoy the satisfaction of knowing that your efforts directly contribute to the well-being of the local wildlife and the overall health of the river.

Participants should bring boats, paddles, and life jackets, shoes that can get wet or sturdy sandals, work gloves, and water. Extra canoes would be helpful to "tow behind" for collected debris. Battery powered reciprocating saws (to cut up debris so it fits in boats) would also be helpful, as well as pole saws (to reach plastic debris high in trees).

After the cleanup, join us for a complementary lunch as we celebrate our hard work and the positive impact we've made. Your participation will not only help clear the river but also send a strong message about the importance of environmental stewardship in our community.
