Our usual Contra Dance on Saturday, Sept. 2 will be extra special! We're not charging more, but we're making the dance hall festive with lights, and we'll be giving out ice cream and potluck treats at the mid-way break in the dancing. This is all because this dance is the culmination of our Challenge Fundraiser to support the Grange Hall! If you can help us with a donation, that's great, but come and enjoy the dancing in any case.
We'll start with the usual instruction/refresher lesson, taught by Will Mentor, our caller for the evening. If you are new to contra dancing, come by 7:30 so you can change or clean your shoes off or change them, before the instruction session which starts about 7:40. Contra dancing for everyone will happen from 8:00 to 11:00. Genticorum is coming down from Canada to play--a hot dance band who play dynamic, trad-based music that pulls from all sorts of traditions. All dances will be taught by the caller!
Come to dance, as usual, at the Capital City Grange Hall, 6612 VT-12, Berlin VT 05602, just one mile south of Montpelier.
This event will be a great time to check out contra dancing! We'd love to have you join us. We encourage mask-wearing by anyone who wants to, but will no longer require masks. If you don't feel well, please stay away and join us at our next dance.
Contra dance admission prices: $12 for adults, $5 for kids & low-income folks, or be a "dance supporter" and give us $20, to help us pay the wonderful callers, musicians and sound techs for the great work they do. Choose what price matches your resources. We're happy to have everyone who comes, whatever you pay! The same goes for donations--which will be used 50% for improvements to the Grange Hall, and 50% for aid to families in the Town of Berlin who have suffered from this summer's floods.
