South Hero Historical Society Program-”Eagle Camp”--7 pm, Fri., July 11, 2014--at Folsom School in Julie Pidgeon's Room

The South Hero Historical Society’s monthly program will be about Eagle Camp, a family camp which has been in South Hero for 124 years. Our presenter will be William Drury whose great-grandfather started Eagle Camp and whose parents, Robert and Alice Drury, served as managers while Bill was growing up in South Hero. He will talk about the origins of Eagle Camp and his recollections of times past. Eagle Camp has been managed by members of the Perry family for its entire existence except for a six-year period in the early 70s.

Many people here in the Islands worked at Camp waiting tables, changing beds, and making the place run smoothly for vacationing families. Some of those families ended up living in the Islands. Come hear all about Bill’s memories and please feel free to bring pictures and remembrances of your own so we can all marvel at how times were so different then than they are today.

Everyone is invited! Please check out our website for videos of past meetings.
