It is important to have a Town Democratic Committee for 4 reasons:
● Select a slate of Justices of the Peace (JPs) for election in 2022 in the Town of Rockingham. JPs have several duties which include serving on the Board of Civil Authority (BCA). The BCA responds to tax appeals and preserves the integrity of our elections.
● Select delegates to represent Rockingham at the Windham County Democratic Committee (WCDC). We have 4 delegates to the WCDC. Delegates are then chosen to represent Windham County at the state committee level.
● Should our representative to the Vermont House of Representatives choose or be unable to continue serving, the Town Committee is responsible (along with other district member towns) to make recommendations to the Governor for appointment.
● Participate in voter registration and Get Out the Vote efforts in Town during election season.
If you are unable to attend the meeting, you can still be on the Rockingham Town Democratic Committee by contacting Leslie Goldman, goldpeak100@gmail.com or 802 869 2989 to express your interest before the meeting. You will automatically be added to the roster.
