Rebecca Solnit's "A Paradise Built in Hell" is an investigation of the moments of altruism, resourcefulness, and generosity that arise amid disaster's grief and disruption.
The Rev. Lisa Kirk will offer some thoughts on the phenomenon of Paradise- seekers during crisis.
Rev. Kirk comes from a Roman Catholic background and is ever grateful for her learning about faith through the devotion of her elders regarding their religious convictions. Although those convictions were never shared, strength in faith was. She speaks in several pulpits in Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Vermont, and also serves as a prison chaplain. She works part time as a hospice chaplain.
Lisa has volunteered in ministry for the homeless, and as a soup kitchen cook. She lives in Townsend, Mass, with her housemate and BFF and their three cats, Sam, Elly, and Brady.
