Green Up Day is Saturday May 3 - Details Here

Past event

Green Up Day is in two weeks! Posters and bags have not arrived yet from Green Up central, but they should be here soon.
The main Green Up drop-off spot will be at the Town Garage on Guptil Road. Also, Rodney's Rubbish will accept Green Up bags, tires (for a fee) and metal that morning in his usual spot behind Crossroads Deli.

HELPERS NEEDED: I would love to have young people to help out at the town garage drop-off. 7th grade and older. 2-3 per shift. Available shifts are 9-11 a.m and 1-3 p.m.

"SIGNING UP" - Green Up isn't complicated - go out and find trash, pick it up and bag it, bring the bags to the drop-off spot. It helps me to have a general idea of which areas are being cleaned. If you plan to go out and know where you will clean, please shoot me an email to let me know where that is. Please know that many people just go out to pick up. If you find your spot clean, just look elsewhere to find an area that needs work.

BAGS will be available by midday Mon. April 28 at the town offices at the Main Street Fire Station, Waterbury Public Library, Sunflower Natural Foods on Rt. 100. Also on Green Up Day at the Guptil Road Drop-Off and with Rodney.

DROP-OFF LOCATIONS ON GREEN UP DAY:
1. 8 AM to 4 PM at Town Highway Garage on Guptil Road. It will accept:
• Green Up bags with trash
• 5-cent returnables bagged separately if possible (a school group redeems them)
• Scrap metal for free (no refrigerators or propane tanks)
• Please! - No tires, household waste, hazardous materials, electronics

TIPS for volunteers:

- Green Up with young kids on side streets, around parks, schools.
- Wear gloves and boots.

- If you can't Green Up May 3, go out beforehand when the weather and your schedule allow; drop bags on the 3rd.
- If you find something too large to move, tell volunteers at the drop-off location.
