Are You Ready for...The Food Waste Ban?

Past event
Dec 7, 2019, 5 to 6 PM

Starting in July, 2020, all food waste will be banned from all Vermont residential trash. That means, we will all need to figure out what to do with eggshells, coffee grounds, chicken bones, trimmed-off fat, vegetable scraps, and the food our kids won't eat and leave on their plates. So–do you know what you'll do?
On Saturday afternoon, from 5:00 to 6:00, the Grange will host a presentation by Theron Lay-Sleeper (Outreach Coordinator) and Dora Chi (Americorps volunteer) from CVSWMD to talk with us about questions like these:

How will this be enforced?
Can I deal with this at home, or do I have to pay someone to take it away?
OK, I know how to compost for my garden, but what about meat, fish and dairy waste?
Is there someplace I can drop off my food waste?

Theron and Dora expect lots of questions and discussion about this, please join us to learn more!

The monthly "Community Potluck" will be held right after the presentation, join us for that as well, from 6:00 to 7:00 PM.
