Do you want 35 of our remaining 55 trees taken down with the new City Hall Park redesign plan? And 1/5 of the park to be impermeable hardscape?
Do you want this historic fountain to be replaced with a concrete FLAT splash pad, that will be functional for a couple months a year and that could be used as a shower with a potential huge liability? Do you want the park closed for over a year and over $3MIL of tax payer money to be spent doing this? Wouldn't it be great to leave our trees, aerate and nourish them?
And what about putting in green childrens' play area (there is none downtown ) and a public bathroom like most small cities have. What kind of town are we to pave, commercialize and disneyfy our park at the expense of tradition and public utility?
And why a coffee kiosk built into the park when the park is SURROUNDED by coffee venues. Why commercialize the park?
Now the City has revealed its final plan to “improve” the Park—and they plan to chop down OVER HALF of these trees! They plan put in just 12 small saplings in their place—saplings that would take decades to provide any shade.
This awful plan is set to be finalized by the City Development Review Board
on Tuesday, Feb. 20, rm 12, 5pm JUST DAYS FROM TODAY.
We need you to show up at this meeting and say WAIT A MINUTE!
And please copy the address below and send an email to the members of the City’s Design Review Board. Tell them this plan is a terrible mistake, and they should care for our existing trees, not cut them down. And come to the Development Review Meeting at 5PM this Tuesday at Room 12 of City Hall. If you don't like this plan, Make your opinion known
