The sixth annual Brick Church Music Series, held at the Old Brick Church in Williston, is presenting it’s fourth performance of the season on Friday evening, January 17th. Headlining the evening will be the singing/songwriting duo of Patti Casey and Susannah Blachly.
Gary Raynor with A Prairie Home Companion says, “…Some music is essential. Patti Casey is essential.” Vermont Public Radio says Patti’s latest album is testament to “the sweetest voice and some of the finest songwriting to come out of Vermont." Susannah’s talents have earned her recognition from the likes of Seven Days, the Times Argus and Vermont Public Radio. Susannah’s song “The Line Between” was named Song Of The Year by Vermont Public Radio’s “All the Tradition’s” host Robert Resnik. One duo listener commented: “Their tunes and lyrics, many original, still linger in my head and resonate in my heart.”
The opening act will be Derek Burkins, who has “…an emotionally measured, straightforward songwriting style with polished instrumental chops and a powerful, emotive voice, all of which suggest a distinct veteran savvy that belies his status as a relative latecomer." Seven Days.
The Brick Church Music Series focuses on bringing great art and music to the historic Brick Church while working with non-profit organizations to help raise funds for their worthwhile missions. Proceeds from this concert will benefit the Vermont Interfaith Action Coalition.
The evening’s visual artist is Karen L. Casper who will present “Watercolors to Warm Your Heart”, an exhibit of small, simple still life paintings of familiar things from which we can draw comfort and warmth for the winter.
Doors open at 6:00 p.m. for a 7:00 show. Tickets are $10 in advance – on-line or at the Williston town office - or $12 at the door ($8/$10 for children under 12 and seniors).
