Contentment in Everyday Life

Past event
Feb 1, 2018, 6 to 8 PM

Taught by Suzanne Trahey & Nikki Jiraff

Contentment can be hard to find. Much of the time we search for contentment in things, achievements or relationships. With meditation practice, we relax with ourselves and appreciate simple human experiences. We learn how difficult emotions and the challenges of life can be met with gentleness, mindfulness and inquisitiveness. Here contentment does not mean complacency, but rather a way of experiencing a fundamental appreciation of our own humanity. In this way, contentment can become the foundation for one's spiritual path and an ally in establishing a sane life.

In this class we will explore what unconditional contentment is and how we can access it through meditation practice and relating to our world. Some topics that we will cover include - How do we relate to the present moment? How do we let go of struggle? What is suffering? What is the path out of suffering? How do we work with emotions? How do we build genuine confidence? We will engage these questions through meditation practice, contemplation, discussion, and optional readings.
