Green Up Day is May 6

Past event
May 6, 2017, 8 AM to 4 PM

Green Up Day is just around the corner! On Saturday, May 6 people around Vermont will go out to clean up our streets, parks and roadsides. There is an online signup for Waterbury at https://tinyurl.com/WaterburyGreenUp2017 (You also can link to it from the municipal website www.waterburyvt.com)

Bags are available at the town offices and Sunflower Market. On May 6, bring filled bags to the town garage on Guptil Road from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Rodney's Rubbish behind Crossroads Deli also will accept Green Up bags from 8 a.m. - noon. Both locations will have free metal recycling. Only Rodney will be set up to take appliances with freon for a $10 fee. Rodney also will accept used tires to recycle for $2.50 each.

If possible, please bag 5-cent redeemable bottles and cans separately. A school group will clean and redeem them.

The online signup has a list of streets and places to Green Up. Please sign up and note where you plan to work. This is hardly a perfect system so there's a chance someone else might clean up your spot before you get there. If that happens, don't panic! Just look for trash anywhere and pick it up.

The website also has tips on choosing a spot to Green Up, how to be safe, etc.

Any questions or suggestions on places that really need attention, please email or call. Thanks in advance - Waterbury always looks great after Green Up!
