The CelloChanWoods Retreat is presently the only retreat of it's kind. Now in it's eighth year, this educational model has a successful track record of creating an environment conducive to transformation on different levels. Cellists
clarify and deepen their personal visions of being an artist, cellist, and creative person. The stunningly beautiful Knoll Farm is an inspiring setting where participants spend seven days and six nights exploring, and resolving, their cellistic issues.
Participants receive daily one on one mentoring and instruction with a highly qualified cello staff.
Modeled in part after a Zen retreat, cellists receive tools over the course of an intensive week that can lead to a surprising leap of growth. The period of silence in the morning before meditation sets the tone for the days work. And the calm achieved gives cellists a chance to gather their thoughts and feelings apart from normal social chatter. Concentration is heightened and creative ideas can more easily emerge. The support of a close knit community
contributes greatly to a student's willingness to try new things, leading to new level of confidence.
The contrast between free wheeling fun and concentrated work is balanced in a such a way
to make sure students don't get overwhelmed. In the evenings there are bonfires, group conversations,
concerts, and relaxed fun. Throughout the day free periods allow rest and reflection, offsetting a full schedule.
The combination works well. Participants feel positively impacted and empowered upon leaving.
CCW accepts players aged 12 to adult at three basic levels: Intermediate, Advanced, and Very Advanced.
We invite you to a take part in this rich and rewarding artistic journey.
