Old North End Mutual Aid (ONEMA)

Mutual aid is a political act in which we take control of our own community needs separate from non-profit, for profit, and state run programs. The concept of mutual aid is distinct from charity or even service. It is not necessarily reciprocal in the literal sense. It is done with the knowledge that everyone is better off when everyone is better off.

The Old North End Mutual Aid (ONEMA) network began in March, 2020 during the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in Vermont. ONEMA has continued beyond crisis response to mitigate ongoing needs of our community.

We believe our community is stronger when all residents are able to survive and thrive. This Mutual Aid network focuses our limited resources on those in the Burlington, Vermont area, especially in the Old North End.
