This 1796 home of one of Addison County's first English-speaking settlers is owned & operated by the Vermont Daughters of the American Revolution. John Strong was a prominent leader in Vermont's Revolutionary War service and its subsequent acquisition of statehood. He served as an early legislator & judge. He and his wife, Agnes, raised 11 children on this property, including Addison County's first English born child. The Strong home & farmlands were purchased by the Vermont DAR in 1934, & have been carefully preserved. (Most of its farmland was given to the state to create DAR State Park).
