The Websterville Fire District, which is a water system despite the name, has proposed that the Town of Barre take over that water system. The staff of both entities have reviewed the costs and benefits of the merger and have concluded that it would result in a net benefit to current customers of both water systems, with a few caveats that have been built into the draft agreement documents.

The Websterville Fire District and Barre Town will hold two joint public hearings on the proposed merger, on October 18th and November 1st, during the Barre Town Selectboard meetings which start at 6:30pm. The hearings will be held in the Selectboard chambers in the municipal building at 149 Websterville Road. The public is invited to attend either or both hearings.
