Vermont Lake Wise is a new program that is offering free technical assistance for lake property owners, or anyone living along a stream, pond or wetland, on how to manage shoreland property to prevent erosion and runoff. A property can earn the Lake Wise Award for representing a “model” shoreland. The award certifies that a property is well managed using best management practices, and is protecting lake water quality and habitat. Most of the property improvements can be done by landowners themselves.
