This Sunday will be the 15th Anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks on the United States of America. It was a day that changed the course of this country and deeply affected the fire service. Not only was there the loss of the 343 NYFD personal that day, the toll that the aftermath has had on the fire fighters, police officers and volunteers who have since passed from the health impacts they suffered from being on ground zero is the unmentioned long term impact.
In honor of those fallen on 9/11 and since, the UJFD will be holding a Siren Sounding Ceremony on Sunday 9/11. The UJFD will sound it's alerting siren which is perched on the departments 100 year anniversary memorial at 9:58 when the South Tower of the World Trade Center collapsed. We will sound the siren once again at 10:28 when the North Tower of the World Trade Center collapsed. People who wish to attend this ceremony are welcomed to gather at the fire house on Sunday morning.
