The school renovation committee has met several times over the summer and is now ready to bring its proposal to the School Board with recommendations on price and scope of the project to update our school. There is a good article summing up the project in the Thursday Times Argus. Basically, we are looking at the items necessary to student health and safety: replacing the outdated and failing plumbing, heating and lighting systems with new efficient systems, removing all asbestos from ceilings and floors, remedying some security issues, and complying with ADA and fire code requirements. Many of these fixes have been deferred since Berlin voters rejected a school bond in 2005.

The school is a community asset and all Berlin residents have a stake in what happens to it. You are invited to attend the meeting on Tuesday at 6pm at the school to hear more or you can contact me directly for more info.
