FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(Morrisville) LEDC/NPI Offering New Cyber Security Workshop

Cybersecurity for Small Businesses

Today’s business takes place online with websites, email and a variety of electronic storage. What data in your organization is considered sensitive? Do you have Intellectual Property (industrial design rights, trade secrets, patents, etc.), or customer information (name, address, phone, image, social security, credit card transactions, etc.) and is it at risk for security breaches? Would such a breach be devastating to your business?

Learn where you may be at risk and how to enhance your technology readiness and business resiliency through implementation of best practices to avoid intrusion. This workshop will also provide details about how to protect your information from the threat of internal employee carelessness as well as what to do if a breach occurs.

This workshop will be led by John Burton, Founder and President of NPI Technology Management in South Burlington, Vermont. Burton has more than 30 years of experience in all aspects of technology management and security. His presentations provide valuable information about the strategies and tools required to keep businesses vigilant in preventing security breaches including Ransomware.

The Lamoille Economic Development Corporation has been offering these small business workshops in partnership with the Vermont Small Business Development Center for the past six years. John Mandeville, the LEDC Executive Director says, “A well-run, well-managed and efficient small business is the backbone to all business success whether that business is a manufacturer, provider of a service or involved in the hospitality and recreation industries. Doing everything possible to make your business as secure as
possible is crucial to ensuring your business’s long term viability and profitability. Come take this workshop and walk away with a better understanding of what you need to do to make your office more secure.”

The workshop will take place on Tuesday, September 20th from 9 am to noon and is held at Green Mountain Technology and Career Center in Hyde Park. The cost to attend is $49 and pre-registration is required. Please visit www.vtsbdc.org and click on TRAINING to register and pre-pay on line or contact Vicki Blanchard at dblanchard@vtsbdc.org or 802-728-9101.
