Kimchi and fun with fiddles at the market this week!

Come down to the market this week to help support another new farm! Old Road Farm was created this year to sustainably grow veggies with a focus on quality salad greens and heirloom tomatoes. They also make kimchi, a Korean fermented dish that they have grown up eating and making. They offer samples of their kimchi and love to talk about their growing practices, so they encourage customers to come with any questions they might have! Some additional items that they’ll have this week include spicy salad mix, arugula, mesclun, cherry tomatoes, kale, dandelion greens, carrots, scallions, beets, radishes, salad turnips and garlic. Other farmers this week will be bringing bacon, chicken, eggs, seasonal berries, sweet corn, baby pac choi, kohlrabi, broccoli, spinach, peppers, carrots and more.

It might rain this Friday, but that’s no excuse to miss out on picking up high quality and locally produced groceries that you’ll use all week, just bring a waterproof bag! We’ll have freshly roasted whole coffee beans, gourmet popping kernels, traditional and bourbon maple syrup, honey and mead, lots of breads and buns, baklava, fruit pies and pistoli to appeal to your sweet tooth, hot chili sauce, mustard, fig trees and beautiful cut flowers.

It probably won’t be the day for outdoor grilling, so grab dinner at the market and eat while listening to the music and keeping dry under our shade/rain tent! This week we’ll have pizza with white sauce, garlic chicken and edible flowers, savory meat and veggie pies, bureks, authentic Mexican food, soft pretzels with hot sauce or mustard, artisan popcorn in several flavors, honey lemonade and nitro cold-brew coffee.

Our crafters this week will be bringing homemade lotions and other products infused with essential oils, scented eye pillows, hula hoops and you can grab a chair massage to relax under a dry tent!

High-Low-Jack will take the stage at 5:00. High-Low-Jack is an old-time Mom & Pop duo consisting of Sarah Hotchkiss and John Mowad who play the fiddle, banjo and guitar. John and Sarah have been teaching and performing in the Montpelier and Burlington area for many years and are well known and respected for the intelligence and sincerity they bring to their music. Their music is rhythmically driving and full of the old home-made Saturday Night good-timey spirit. Their plain, simple genuineness conveys the deep love they have for their music, each other and the people they share their gifts with. Thank you Jamieson Insurance for sponsoring our music this week!

We’ll see you there, Rain or Shine!!

Help our parking problem! Walk or bike to the market if possible, or find additional parking in the back lot, behind the field, or at the Town Offices up the street.
