Planning Commission

If you care to review the changes that are going to happen in this Village, do attend the Planning Commission Public Hearing, some of the changes are what is building the grounds to build higher buildings, give the Planning Commission a new title (

please do attend and/ email, write, call the Trustees- there are several areas of concerns, for instance, the closing of main street would be written in the Village "development" plan (notice the addition of the word development) of course.
Look carefully at section 604 H1: Building Height. Building heights shall not exceed four (4) stories or fifty-eight (58)
feet, whichever is less.

Now read this addition:
1. Building Height Waiver – The Planning Commission may grant a height waiver
up to six (6) stories or eighty-four (84) feet, whichever is less if the Commission
determines that the proposed building and site design would not negatively impact the
character of the neighborhood. The Commission may place conditions on any building
height waiver to ensure that the proposed project does not adversely affect the
surrounding neighborhood. this would effectively allow the freshly renamed planning commission to approve 6 story buildings in the Village Center
(Surprise-some of the Village residents who live in the Center or one block from there can actually read this and translate for others !)- and there are many more changes of the sort.
Be very careful of this proposed plan, the planning director Robin Pierce is hell bent on developing and making friends with Commercial Real Estate agents -have you seen him around the neighborhood asking what WE can decide on. No, a "consultant" (not a professional) was hired to mislead village residents who live a couple of miles away to decide how our backyard will look like.
Be careful.
I went to Montclair on a trip, could not help but notice that the "vibrant' historical section is very commercial, bike and pedestrian friendly and HAS NO BUILDING over 2 stories (mixed commercial industrial use) oh, and all this without moving the traffic through a connector to more residential areas
VIllage trustees, have you gone mad?
