On Wednesday, July 13, there will be a special screening of the award-winning documentary “Polyfaces: A World of Many Choices” at 7 p.m. at Sterling College in Simpson Hall, Classroom 3. This event is free and open to the public. The filmmakers will be available for a Q&A after showing the film.

“Polyfaces” follows one Australian family as they spend their life savings and travel to the U.S., spending four years documenting a style of farming that they believe will save humanity. Set amid the stunning Shenandoah Valley, Polyface Farm is led by the “world’s most innovative farmers” (TIME Magazine) and uses no chemicals, while feeding over 6,000 families and many restaurants and food outlets within a three-hour ‘foodshed’ of the farm.

The film follows the Salatins, a fourth generation farming family, who do “everything different to everyone else” as they produce food in a way that works with nature, not against it. Using the symbiotic relationships of animals and their natural functions, they produce high quality, nutrient-dense products.

The documentary has won multiple awards, including Best Documentary at Silver Springs International FF in Florida, the Minister of Agriculture Award at the Life Sciences Film Festival in Prague, a Gold Remi at the WorldFest Film Festival in Houston, the Festival Spirit Award at Weyauwega International Film Festival in Wisconsin, and has been awarded 'official selection' at the Virginia Film Festival USA, Cinema Verde Film Festival USA, Environmental Film Festival AUS, Transitions Film Festival AUS, Port Townsend Film Festival USA, Food and Farming Film Festival USA and Swanpool Film Festival AUS.
