Aging in Community - the Village Model (A.K.A. Beacon Hill Model)

Past event
Jul 22, 2016, 10 AM to 12 PM

The Center on Aging at UVM and AARP Vermont invite you to an exciting & informative community presentation: The Village Movement: Getting Started in Vermont.
Since the Village Movement began in Beacon Hill Village in Boston in 2001, there has been a growing interest in developing Villages. Villages are typically a group of residents, age 50 and older, that form a non-profit membership organization to provide access to services, social opportunities, and recreation events that support their goal of remaining at home as long as possible. Some of our neighbors in New Hampshire and Maine have developed thriving villages – why not in Vermont?
Guest speaker Natalie Galucia, MSW, from the Village to Village Network, will cover specific topics involved in developing a Village. There will be time for questions and interaction.
