Friends of Music at Guilford's 50th season finale, A Cappella à la Carte, is Saturday, June 25, at a West Guilford hilltop home with spectacular views. It's off the Hinesburg Rd. near Carpenter Hill Rd. The menu includes a short Membership Meeting at 5:00, an all-Community Potluck at 5:45, and an A Cappella Concert at 7:00. The meeting includes a season review, a look ahead, and voting for next year's trustees plus a few other items -- all are welcome, membership is available for full participation. Meat and veggie main dishes, as well as a variety of beverages, will be provided; other entrees are welcome, as are appetizers, salads, and sides. The concert includes sets by the Singcrony women's quartet offering Swing Jazz from the 1920s, '30s and '40s; and Love Songs by the 15-member Guilford Chamber Singers (GCS), performing works from the 16th to 20th centuries, a little Broadway and Pop, and three Sara Teasdale poems set by GCS director Tom Baehr. An anniversary cake, ice cream and sundae fixings, and a champagne toast cap the event. Also enjoy photos, posters, videos, and memorabilia from the past five decades, and a few musical surprises. Attend one or more of the evening's offerings. Admission is free, with donations welcome. Reservations are required for directions to the site and food planning.
