Join Brooks Memorial Library – ONLINE – as we host Vermont Humanities Snapshot Series with James Lockridge.
Almost 20 years ago, Lockridge co-founded the nonprofit organization Big Heavy World to archive and promote original Vermont-made music. In this talk, he shares historic and current examples of how the arts can invite changemaking and community building for those who are still finding their voice.
About the presenter: James Lockridge has been directing Big Heavy World as a volunteer since co-founding the organization in 1996. He has guided its growth into a recognized music office, archive, and media center. His roles include development, volunteer oversight, and project management. James graduated with a BA from the University of Vermont in 1991. He participates on several cultural heritage and arts-related boards and is a longtime advocate for equity and transparency in government, especially in relation to the arts. He enjoys motorcycle riding and lives in Tucson with his wife, daughter and a house full of cats and dogs.
