Past event
Jul 7, 2016, 5 to 6:30 PM

Mayor Miro Weinberger, the Fletcher Free Library, and the UVM Humanities Center are pleased to announce the next Mayor’s Book Group reading selection – Triumph of the City: How Our Greatest Invention Makes Us Richer, Smarter, Greener, Healthier, and Happier by Edward Glaeser. Free copies are available now at the Fletcher Free Library or through the UVM Humanities Center by contacting david.jenemann@uvm.edu.

Please join us for a book group panel discussion on the economic, environmental, and social benefits of investing in our downtown. Glaeser’s Triumph of the City looks at what makes cities thrive and how their success improves quality of life and reduces carbon footprint. We hope you will join us for this event on Thursday, July 7 at 5:00 pm at ArtsRiot.

The Mayor’s Book Group is a joint effort between Mayor Weinberger and the UVM Humanities Center, created in 2014 to explore thought-provoking ideas relevant to civic life, culture, and history. Past discussion topics have included the Civil Rights Act of 1964, anti-poverty initiatives, and how data analysis is changing baseball and local government.
