It's finally Farmers Market season! Come enjoy Opening Day at the Five Corners Farmers Market this Friday (6/3) in downtown Essex Junction. Starting at 3:30 PM, the market will have all the afternoon treats you might want - from fresh squeezed lemonade, teas and iced-coffee to kettle corn, dessert bars and paleo snacks. Or, feed every palate in the family with dinner options that include wood fired pizza, burritos and enchiladas, fresh salsas, moussaka, bureks, tabouli, curry puffs and basil rolls, hot dogs, and fresh local grilled cheese sandwiches.
For at-home meals, visit our farmers to get all you need for breakfast -- fresh organic eggs, pastured bacon, maple syrup, pancake mix, cheese, challah, pastries, and honey; and dinner -- fresh organic chicken, pastured pork and grass fed beef, asparagus, lettuce, vinegar, salad dressings, baguettes, cheese and pesto!
Families with children, be sure to stop by the lively Power of Produce tent and get your POP Kids Club passport, do a fun activity that's all about farms and farming, and be earn a $2 POP coupon redeemable on a favorite produce item.
Music entertainment will be provided by Julie Winn, a signer/songwriter from Burlington whose simple soulful music influenced by Joan Baez and Bob Dylan will set the tone for a relaxing start to the weekend. While you are at the market, consider hand-made tie-dye fabrics, art and illustrations or the purchase of a market gift certificate for end-of-year teacher gifts.
