Fairy House and Gnome Home Building at Journey's End

Past event
Jun 25, 2016, 9:30 AM to 11:30 PM

Join members of the Johnson Conservation Commission for a story, walk to Journey’s End and morning of building fairy houses and gnome homes in the “Fairy Forest” by a lovely stream and waterfall.

Saturday, June 25th 9:30-11:30. FREE

Recommended for children ages 3 and up. Fairy loving adults and artists welcome too! Activity may be most loved by elementary aged children.

Meet at the trail head to Journey’s End on Plot Road, Johnson. Story will take place by the new kiosk by the trail head and then we’ll walk down to the “Fairy Forest” together.

Bring a water bottle and snack (lunch if you feel like staying later) and whatever else you need to be comfortable in the woods for 2 hours (bug juice, sunscreen, etc). If you’d like to splash around in the stream afterward bring attire for that and a towel. Don’t forget to bring your creativity and joy!

You are also welcome to bring natural materials from home such as rocks, bark, pine cones, acorns, etc. Please no artificial materials. The fairies and gnomes have asked us to not pick any living materials but to gather natural materials from the ground. They are nature lovers!

RSVP to Laura Branca, Libra510@aol.com, or text or call 860-841-9377

If you can’t make this event, we invite you to return to the “Fairy Forest” by Journey’s End swimming hole to see the creations that are popping up and make your own. Adults welcome and encouraged to join in on the fun as well!

Please note:
Children will need to be accompanied by an adult and watched closely on the hiking trail and by the stream, swimming hole and water falls. Natural hazards such as roots, slippery rocks, drop-offs, and running water do exist in this environment so adults must monitor children closely at all times. Members of the conservation commission are leading a fairy house building activity and ask the adults who are bringing children to be responsible for their safety. Closed toe shoes recommended. Also note that there are no bathroom facilities down in the woods. A beautiful hiking trail, stream, and enjoyable morning of building fairy houses and gnome homes await you.
