Good Morning Gardening Enthusiasts,
Operation Bloom is a 20 year old volunteer group here in Winooski dedicated to planting gardens in our City's public spaces (outside of the downtown-as they are maintained by the City's Public Works Department). Our total funding comes from generous private donations of about ten loyal businesses and individuals. Some of our "pride and joy" gardens include the fabulous cottage garden in front of City Hall, the garden on upper Exit 15, garden under Welcome to Winooski sign and we support Rita Martel's and Mrs. Yeates's spectacular planters at Hood's Crossing and this year the adjacent island. We have an exciting new project this year, starting a pollinator garden and herb planters at the Senior Center.
We will be meeting this week at City Hall (best to park in the City Hall parking lot) on Wednesday, May 25th & Thursday,May 26th at 6:00 pm. We usually working until dusk to prep and plant annuals, pruning shrubs and moving perennials. City Hall's cottage garden will be our focus on Wednesday and Thursday's focus will be TBA later this weekend.
We always welcome new and experienced gardeners at any of our events. We always have plenty of tools to share at our plantings so don't worry if you don't have your own. It is always a good idea to wear gloves.
We hope you will consider joining us either on this Wednesday and/or Thursday. We are an enthusiastic and devoted bunch of Winooski residents.
"We dig Winooski!"
