Ferrisburgh Girl Scout Brownie Troops - “Wild at Art” Endangered Species Art Show
51 Main at the Bridge, 51 Main Street, Middlebury http://www.go51main.com/
Girl Scout Brownie Troops 30589 and 30309 are made up of twenty-two second and third grade girls from Ferrisburgh Central School. This year, we have been working toward our Girl Scout "World of Girls" badges, including projects to help change the world of girls for the better. Animals are always a large focus for our troops so the girls decided a great way to help girls around the world would be to support endangered species globally. To do so, we have joined a national “Wild at Art” World Wildlife Fund fundraiser trying to raise donations through art projects highlighting some of the endangered species around the world. Many species of animals around the globe—well over 11,000—are threatened with extinction due to habitat loss, illegal capture and poaching, and other threats caused by humans.
We are very excited to share that our endangered species art will be on display on the walls of 51 Main at the Bridge in Middlebury from Tuesday, May 3 - Thursday, May 5. Please swing by the space at some point during that time to check it out! The art is available for sale by donation with all monies raised going to support the World Wildlife Fund.
Also, please join us for a "Meet the Artists" / Art Opening on Wednesday, May 4 at 5:30pm at 51 Main at the Bridge (51 Main Street, Middlebury) and meet some of the young Girl Scout artists. (Kids eat free every Wednesday at 51 Main, with purchase of adult entree!)
If you are interested in making a donation to purchase one of the paintings or in making a direct donation to our World Wildlife Fund fundraiser, please contact troop leaders Daniela (dmichaels1628@gmail.com) or Amy (atewks@gmail.com).
Would you like to get involved with our Brownie troops? Do have a skill or job you could share - engineering? science? art? nature? architecture? We're open to ideas! Do you have a great story or community project you'd like us to hear about or get involved with? We're always looking for new connections and exciting ideas - please get in touch!
(All monies raised will be donated to the World Wildlife Fund (WWF). WWF is one of the world's leading conservation organizations, working in 100 countries for the past 50 years. With the support of almost 5 million members world-wide, WWF is dedicated to delivering science-based solutions to preserve the diversity and abundance of life on Earth, halt the degradation of the environment, and combat climate change)
