I wanted to let you all know that the sap has indeed run a bit the past couple days, and there is enough to boil this coming Sunday, so we will be hosting our annual Open Sugarhouse gathering Sunday afternoon from 1-5. Come visit with neighbors, taste warm syrup and traditional sugarhouse snacks on what will likely be the last day of boiling for us this season. There has been a lot of very wacky weather this year, which continued this week--from a low Monday morning of 4.5 degrees, to 56 and rain yesterday. Today, as another cold front went through late, more snow. It will be cool Sunday, 35-40, but with some sun, so dress warmly and come join us and celebrate the year's first crop!
Also, PLEASE! leave your dogs at home. I love dogs, too, but I can't allow them in the sugarhouse, and we now have a great cat that is really nervous around dogs. If you bring your dog, I will ask that you leave it in your car, which is not good for anybody. So, please don't bring them.
Please do park in the field by the old house, after entering the field at the top of the sugarhouse road--there will be a sign pointing the way so that you avoid what is still very soft, muddy ground along the driveway. The field is for the most part firmer, so please look for the sign.
