Meet Lost Nation Theater's Cast of Hairspray

Past event
Apr 4, 2016, 7 to 8:30 PM

Lost Nation Theater and Christ Episcopal Church are collaborating to host a reception to Meet the Cast of Hairspray! Often thought of as a musical fluff piece, Hairspray is based on the theme of racial inclusion. Come nosh on retro fare. Meet the actors! The first 20 to arrive will win a free can of hairspray, courtesy of Myles Court Barbershop.
At 7:30 there will be a brief presentation including introduction of the actors and perspectives on acceptance from: LNT Artistic Directors Kim Bent and Kathleen Keenan, actors, and representatives from the Peace and Justice Center, VT Works for Women, and Outright VT.
Hairspray is a bold musical about one girl's inspiring dream to dance. Set in Baltimore, 1962, the play is piled bouffant-high with laughter, romance, and deliriously tuneful, soulful songs.
There are many ways to engage in conversation around issues of racial justice, transgender, self-acceptance and reconciliation. What better way to start than with theater?
Welcome Reception held at Christ Church, 64 State Street, Montpelier, 7-8:30, Monday, April 4th.
Hairspray will run at Lost Nation Theater April 21 - May 8th, City Hall, Montpelier. Get your tickets now at www.lostnationtheater.org
