Girls Try Hockey For Free During Tier II Girls National Tournament
Participants: This is open to girls who have never played hockey or if this year was their first time playing hockey. Also current hockey players can participate if they bring a friend onto the ice who wants to try hockey for the first time.
Date: Sunday April 3, 2016
Time: 2:00-3:30 PM
Location: Cairns Arena Rink 1
Equipment Needed: Skaters at least need a helmet (hockey or bike) with some form of eye protection (goggles or cage), gloves (winter or hockey) to protect hands and skates. Cairns Arena will be providing free hockey skate rentals. If possible bring a hockey stick because most likely there will not be enough sticks for everyone. There also will be a limited supply of used hockey equipment for girls to use but most likely not enough for everyone to use. If your daughter has the opportunity to borrow equipment from a friend that would be the best way to ensure your daughter will have the equipment she needs to go on the ice and have sufficient protection.
Format: There will be female hockey players on the ice helping and the ice will be broken up into different sections with fun activities for the girls. There will be music playing during the event to keep up the energy and excitement about trying hockey.
