Join the Brookfield Historical Society and The Nature Conservancy (TNC) on Sunday, March 20, for a viewing of DamNation, an award-winning film that sheds light on America’s dams and their impact on river health.
TNC and its partners are working to remove “deadbeat” dams from Vermont’s waterways, and TNC representatives will be on hand for a post-screening discussion.
The White River Partnership (WRP) will join the discussion to provide an update about the Randolph Dam removal project scheduled for summer 2016. The WRP has received full-funding to work with TNC, American Rivers, US Fish & Wildlife Service, Greater Upper Valley Chapter of Trout Unlimited, and Ripple Natural Resources to remove the Randolph Village dam, restoring fish passage to 98 miles of cold-water trout habitat on the Third Branch of the White River.
The screening, followed by discussion, will start at 3:00 pm, with a Brookfield Historical Society-hosted potluck at 5:00 pm. All are invited to this free BHS event at the Pond Village Church (49 Ridge Road) in Brookfield, Vermont.
The White River Partnership (WRP) is a grassroots, non-profit organization that brings together people and local communities to improve the long-term health of the White River and its watershed.
