It's March!! Spring any day.
For our March Meeting, the Ferrisburgh Historical Society will meet in the Assembly Hall at our Town Offices and Community Center, on Sunday March 13th, at 2 PM.
Following a short business meeting, we will be showing a film, entitled “Under the Surface”.
“Freedom and Unity: The Vermont Movie” is the first ever documentary series about Vermont. This six part film is a collaboration of over 40 Vermont filmmakers. Each film in the series explores either a different historical period, or explores one of the various reoccurring political and philosophical themes of our state’s history.
“Under the Surface” is Part Two of the series. This film digs beneath the surface of Vermont’s bucolic image, to explore the period from pre-Civil War until 2009. The film chronicles the rise of labor unions and quarry work, the resulting labor wars, the marketing of Vermont, and the state’s reaction to New Deal policies, to Joe McCarthy, to urban emigres (aka flatlanders), to ‘back to the landers”.
As with all our events, this program is free of charge, and open to all. Please join us. Any questions, call 425-3380.
