3 v 3 Soccer Tourney To Benefit New American Athletes Saturday Mach 5th at the UVM indoor turf A Street Style soccer tournament is slated for March 5 at UVM¹s indoor turf facility to raise funds for needy youth soccer players in Burlington and beyond. Teams are invited to enter and compete with some of the region¹s top players as well as teams at all levels -- boys and girls alike. In ³Street Style² play the players organize a team of 3-5 people and on the field they coach and ref themselves. Black Watch Burlington Soccer Club is hosting the event and organizing space and scheduling. Teams can be boys, girls, coed in U10, U12, U14 and high school age brackets as well as adults teams if there is enough interest. The tournament is open to the whole community regardless of club affiliation and welcomes those who don¹t play club soccer. The emphasis is on having fun! There will be prizes and raffles throughout the day.
Black Watch Burlington is committed to providing high-level soccer to all soccer players including the underserved and disadvantaged youth in the Burlington area. There are over 40 New American families involved in our program. These families are from African nations such as Somalia, Burundi Ghana and Kenya as well as other struggling nations such as Nepal, Thailand, Iraq, Turkey, and Bosnia. Black Watch Premier is unique among soccer clubs in Vermont in adopting this inclusive mission. More than 20% of the youth who play for Black Watch receive a full scholarship and a free uniform, along with transportation to and from practices and games. All proceeds from the event will go towards making club soccer a reality for kids who are economically challenged.
