Past event
Feb 5, 2016

Friday, February 5, at Unitarian Universalist Church in Springfield, 21 Fairground Road, 7 PM, Doors open at 6:45.

The film for First Friday in February (Feb 5) is “OMG GMO,” by Jeremy Seifert. This is the story of one man’s search for answers about genetically modified food and the effect it has on us. It takes him and us on visits to Haiti, Paris, Norway and the lobby of Monsanto. It raises questions on who controls the future of food. The film also touches on topics like loss of seed diversity as corporate interests take over the food chain, the dangers of chemical toxins, environmental risks and the non-transparency of corporate mono-agricultural studies and practices.

The documentary is 84 minutes long and came out in 2013.

This film relates to at least two of the principles of the Unitarian Universalist Church: a free and responsible search for truth and meaning, and respect for the interdependent web of all existence.

Doors at the UU Church in Springfield on Fairground Road will open at 6:45 pm. We will serve hot drinks and popcorn. The film starts at 7 pm.
