Hello Worcester residents. This is a reminder that the 2016 Presidential Primary is taking place on Town Meeting Day, March 1st, 2016. Now is the time to make sure you are on our Voter Checklist. Deadline Date to register is February 24th at 5:00 PM. Absentee ballots are available now.
Vermont Secretary of State Jim Condos has announced the roll-out of the new Elections Management Platform. This platform has three main parts:
· Elections Management System (EMS) – includes a new statewide voter checklist and other resources and tools to be used by town and city clerks across Vermont to conduct all of their election related business – from registering voters, to processing absentee ballot requests, to entering election results;
· New Online Voter Registration Tool – allows all eligible Vermonters to submit their voter registration application online anytime and anywhere they can access the internet; and
· New “My Voter Page” – online resource that allows every registered voter to login and have access to a unique, voter-specific web page where they can request an absentee ballot, track its status, update their voter registration record, find their polling place, view a sample ballot, and much more.
The online voter registration page can be found at http://olvr.sec.state.vt.us and the My Voter Page login can be found at http://mvp.sec.state.vt.us.
You may also access these links on our Worcester Town Website http://www.worcestervt.org/
We will be posting the Voter Check List at the Town Hall and you can always come by or call the Town Clerk's office.
One last important reminder:
For the Presidential Primary, every voter (whether early or on election day) must choose which ballot, Democratic or Republican, they wish to vote. You will only be given the ballot you requested and your choice is recorded on the entrance checklist. See 17 V.S.A. § 2704. The absentee request form (both the paper form and online) contains a box for you, the voter, to check which ballot you wish to receive. The request is not complete if you have not indicated which ballot you want to receive. (It is the August Statewide Primary when the voter is given all ballots and they choose which party to vote.)
