The Thoughtful Growth In Action (TGIA) Working Group has recommended that the Town of Essex and Village of Essex Junction adopt a Joint Planning Commission and two Development Review Boards -- a change from the current planning governance structure of two planning commissions and two zoning boards of adjustment.

If you want to hear more about the recommendation, come to TGIA’s closing community workshop on Wednesday, Jan. 13 at Essex High School from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Snacks and drinks will be available. You will have a chance to ask questions and weigh in with reactions to the information presented.

The 24-member Working Group has been meeting for the past several months to understand how planning works today and to explore new governance alternatives and better communications around planning. The Working Group recommendation will go to the Essex Selectboard and Village of Essex Junction Trustees in March.
