Preview of December 21 City Council Meeting

Past event
Dec 21, 2015, 7 to 10 PM

Dear Neighbors,

On Monday, the City Council will hold the second of two meetings for the month of December.

The Council will begin its evening with a communication from the Mayor regarding the appointment of Justin St. James as an Assistant City Attorney and Steven Locke in the position of Burlington’s Fire Chief.

We will then vote on an indoor and outdoor entertainment permit for Pingala Café and Eatery on Mill Street. There are two openings on the Church Street Marketplace Commissions. Following these appointments, we will be voting on four resolutions. The first is a resolution to accept the Downtown Parking and Management Plan. The second concerns the former Burlington College property Development Agreement. We will move on to a discussion and vote in supporting the advancement of the Railyard Enterprise Project Phase 2 Alternatives. What we are doing is voting to advance 3 alternatives to the Environmental Permitting Process.

The next resolution is in support of the Howard Center Safe Recovery program. This program provides a broad range of low threshold services for people who are addicted to heroin and other opioids. The Safe Recovery served over 1,500 people in the last fiscal year.

The last resolution of the evening is regarding voting locations and improving voter participation.

Our last items on our agenda are Council committee reports, comments from Councilors and the Mayor.

As with all Council meetings, please keep in mind that you are always welcome to come and speak to the Council on any subject you wish during our Public Forum which begins at 7:30pm. Clickable agenda items can be found on the City's website:
https://www.boarddocs.com/vt/burlingtonvt/Board.nsf/Public All Council meetings are televised live on BT Channel 317 and streamed live to your computer or phone.

As always, I welcome your questions and concerns. Please be in touch over the weekend and on Monday.

I hope you all enjoy a terrific weekend.

My best,
Karen
