Hi Neighbors,
The Burlington Choral Society, known for performing rarely heard works by classical masters and music new to Vermont audiences, has a concert coming up. This concert we will be sharing music from the small, but musically renowned, Baltic republic of Estonia with our community. The concert is Friday, Nov. 20, 7:30 p.m. at the Elley-Long Music Center in Colchester.
Artistic director Richard Riley will lead our 75-voice chorus, with the Burlington Chamber Orchestra, in Arvo Pärt's beautiful "Magnificat;" Tõnu Kõrvits' ethereal songs based on folk hymns; and three lively pieces from the Estonian Song Festival, an event where a chorus of 30,000 sings to an audience of 80,000.
There will also be a world premiere on the program -- an evocative piece by Estonian-American composer Lembit Beecher. The Estonian Ambassador to the U.S. will be our guest of honor.
Tickets are $25 for adults, $20 for seniors and students. They're available at www.flynntix.org or (802) 863-5966.
Hope to see you there!
