Community Meeting, "We've Had Enough," Richmond

Past event
Nov 18, 2015

This goes out to ALL Residence of Richmond, Jericho and neighboring towns, if you are on FPF in other close by towns please share.........

What's this about and who is involved you ask......We are Bill and Linda Donovan from the Lucky Spot Variety Store on Rt 117 here in Richmond, we were broken into 3 weeks ago, the suspect has been found, arrested but yet to be convicted, he is a local heroin addict. We had few weeks before this a heroin overdose in our parking lot. I have been angry and talking a blue streak of how upset I am and how we need to change things. So with the help of Chief Buck, representatives from Leahy's office, TJ Donovan's office, the clinical director of Valley Vista, a drug and rehab facility, a nurse from Howard Center, member from Williston and Winooskii Police Dept and Drug Task Force we hope to enlighten not only ourselves more on the growing drug epidemic but learn what we can do to combat it/help and as well keep our youth safe such as meetings of support for addicts and teen and youth activities.

Also with the epidemic are the break ins, not only our business but people's homes and cars. If the offenders are caught its a slap on the hand and release. Unfortunately the problem is that its become such a catch and release that it is costing the system, us as tax payers an exuberant amount of money and we are getting no where. With that being said, it does not take one person to change something it takes a community. How do we do this, flood our legislators, town representatives with emails letting them know our thoughts and concerns of how the system is NOT working efficiently.

This is just a highlight of what the meeting is about, come together and lets help keep our towns healthy. Community awareness will make us strong......

Thank you for your time and we hope you can make the meeting Wednesday November 18th at the Camels Hump Middle School
