As a follow up to our September community forum, the friends of the Five Town Schools is hosting a second meeting that aims to give voice to our 5 town community’s ideas of the culture of education and engagement we want for our students and the qualities of leadership that would support that in the ANESU school buildings. The meeting will be held on Monday, November 16th from 7:00-9:00PM at Mt Abe Middle and High School in the small cafeteria. All community members are welcome and encouraged to attend. Written comments will be accepted as well. The evening forum will be videotaped by NEAT TV as well as scribed and notes made available to the public.
At the first forum, almost 100 concerned residents of the five town communities came together to express strong support for what we are most proud of at our schools and thoughtful concerns about the steps the community needs to take to improve our area schools. The qualities of collaborative leadership and increased student voice were two prominent themes that emerged from that meeting.
We found a lot of eager energy in that room full of people who really care about what’s going on at our schools. We are committed to continuing the conversation to discuss the topic of leadership and the kind of culture we want our administrators and school boards to promote in their leadership work. This is especially relevant as we embark on hiring a permanent principal for Mt Abe, a new superintendent for the district.
Friends of the Five Towns Schools is an ad hoc group of concerned residents working to promote open dialogue and positive learning environments for students and staff of the Addison Northeast Supervisory Union. The community meeting is open to the public and anyone can join the email list by contacting suwhite60@gmail.com.
We hope to see you there. If you have any questions please email us at suwhite60@gmail.com
