Comcast makes millions while running its cables on public land. Here is your one chance to tell Vermont's Public Service Board (PSB) what Vermonters NEED in exchange for extending Comcast's contract for another 11 years!
WHY SPEAK OUT? The PSB wants to know which services should be included in Comcast's new Certificate of Public Good and how well community media centers like RETN, VCAM and CCTV Channel 17 are meeting your needs. That means your opinion and voice matters.
This is the last opportunity until 2027 for Vermonters to ask for modern services like local HD cable channels for community-produced content; for a statewide HD channel so local events and concerts can be watched live across Vermont; and to ask for local channels be included on Comcast's digital program guide so local cable subscribers can easily find and record local meetings and shows for later viewing.
It's also an opportunity to ask for free premium HD subscriptions and televisions for every school and library in Vermont. This would allow residents in communities with unreliable or non-existent high-speed Internet to gather for events like the recent debate parties. Maybe you have other cable-related needs, please come to the hearing and share them!
"BUT, I DON'T HAVE CABLE." If you support local access TV stations like RETN, VCAM, CCTV Channel 17, and if you believe the access to video training, equipment, and cable channels we provide is important to our community, PLEASE TELL THE PSB in person or in writing.
Please speak out at a public hearing this Wednesday, 10/21, 7 p.m. at the Vermont Interactive Technologies offices, Blair Park, 451 Lawrence Place, Williston.
If you can't make the meeting please email or mail your comments to the Public Service Board.
