Reminder: On Sunday October 11, the New Haven Conservation Commission in partnership with the University of Vermont’s PLACE program is sponsoring an "Outdoor Naturalist" walk of Treleven Fields & Farm in New Haven from 1:30-3:30. Besides being home to a commercial flock of sheep, Treleven Farm includes approximately 70 acres of forested land, managed primarily for overall forest health and biodiversity. Much effort has gone into optimizing wildlife habitat--particularly for endangered bats--and controlling invasives such as buckthorn and garlic mustard.
The walk will include a moderately steep climb to a rocky outcrop that overlooks much of the farm as well as the surrounding Champlain Valley, so hiking shoes and a water bottle are recommended. And, of course, dress for the weather since this is a rain-or-shine event.
Where: 164 Mitchell Drive, Vergennes, VT 05491 (off of Hallock Rd.).
Directions are available online at treleven.wordpress.com
